Making History on the USS Melville
Who knew that the humble owner of the paint store on Main Street in the small town of Denison, Texas had traveled the world and been part of the first trans-Atlantic airplane flight in history?

Friendly Rays of Stingray City

Ever want to feed the Stingrays? Here is what it is like. Every now and then, they will knock you off balance to get to that squid you are holding. It happened to me this time.
Looking for Little Things HD

Short video of "little things" that are hard to find and hard to see even if you can find them. Filmed in the Cayman Islands while diving from the Cayman Aggressor IV.
45 Percent (Cozumel #3)

Finally got around to creating a short video from our live aboard excursion to The Bahamas in August 2012. The abundance of Lionfish may account for the lack of other fish. We had some great dives, such as The Washing Machine, which I could not capture on video because I wasn't willing to do a negative entry jump from a moving boat with my camera!
Shark Adventure!
Переглядів 83811 років тому
This is a short video taken on Stuart Cove's Shark Adventure dives in The Bahamas. The first dive was on a wreck where lots of sharks show up. The second dive is the actual feeding dive. On Dive 2, look for one shark going through the cameramen's legs, and also listen for the bang when one of the sharks hit my lens with his pectoral fin. The videographer who got in my way was shooting for Scuba...
Journey to Atlantis
Переглядів 24211 років тому
Before we got on our dive boat, the wives insisted that we spend a few days at the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas. (Their TV advertising works!) This is a really interesting, family-friendly place. Lots of attention to detail with the Atlantis theme. The sea life exhibits are really interesting. If you are not a diver, this will get you pretty close to some awesome sea creatures (although I did...
Checking Out Cozumel (Cozumel #2)
Переглядів 2,4 тис.11 років тому
For new divers, Cozumel is a wonderful introduction to the underwater world, being one of the top diving destinations in the world. This video shows many of the critters - big and tiny - who live beneath the waves in the Cozumel national marine park. It includes some night dive footage of octopus and squid. Filmed at the Iberostar Cozumel Resort with Dressel Divers and our new diver friends.
Another Week in Paradise (Cozumel #1)

Cozumel is among the top 5 dive destinations in the world. This is video from Feb 2012. We usually stay at the Iberostar Cozumel, and video is included to give a flavor of the place. But the real stars are clear waters and the critters you get to see beneath the surface. Enjoy.
Hawaii Manta Night Dive
Переглядів 16512 років тому
Someone said, "If you can only do one dive in Hawaii, do the Manta Night Dive from Kona. If you can only do two dives in Hawaii, do it again." I agree. We made the dive 3 nights in a row in August 2010. I would do it again. Right now.
Blue Hole: What's On The Bottom?
Переглядів 475 тис.12 років тому
When we dive at the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, the most common question that non-divers ask is, "What's on the bottom?" We decided to answer the question when I tried out my new camera and underwater housing for the first time.
My name is Stephen Keith tibbetts and captain keith tibbetts is my grandfather 😮
That’s cool! It is a fun dive site, and we have been there more than once.
That is awesome how their is koy fish
My dad is a statue there
That's cool! Is he in the video?
@@vesler at .39 in the video is him his name is rusty wood. He was mentioned on the website after he passed.
@@april5451able That's awesome.
I've done at least a 100+ dives at Blue Hole. Just a nice place to go over the winter in NM to get some bottom time. It's been a while now though. Love the mom and pop diner as well as the local motel.
I know those are not lobsters 🦞… are those crawfish or prawns?
Crawfish
@@vesler Thank you… I was pretty sure that’s what they were but wasn’t 100% sure being from the northeast where all we have are lobsters for the most part :)
Do I need to have hold a padi certificate for snorkeling there?
No, not to snorkel or free dive. Only to scuba dive.
My home town😊 And still is
Thank you! So brave of u scuba divers. To share with ppl who will never get to c it.
My dad sunk this ship with Jean-Michel Cousteau
Cool! Did your dad also help sink the Kittywake?
Where is this??
Santa Rosa, New Mexico
Gorgeous water and I really like the compilation of music. I also like all of the treasures.
Thank you!
I bottomed the Blue Hole of Santa Rosa. Following exploration of other NM caves. This was not my first dive for NSS organized exploration purposes. My partners were body recovery divers from a NM city experienced in locating water victims. Who were showing me a hazard to obtain my opinions. Afterward they related short-term motis effects and post-mortem changes essential for investigations. Re: nss@caves.org
Nice video, was there back in 1984.
Thanks. Been awhile since I have been there. The city of Santa Rosa has made it MUCH less attractive to divers in the last 3-4 years.
I'm sorry, but the music is totally distracting.
Turn off the sound?
Was that a fricckin goldfish lol
There is some speculation that some of these blue holes are interconnected even though they're thousands of miles apart......
Interesting idea.
Amazing video!
Thank you!
Nice video. It’s an interesting dive site.
I want to go that place😮😥
The real blue hole only in Dahab Egypt.
Thank you for the effort you all put forth, however i'm going to be a big jerk and rate it with a big YAWN, please forgive me
so on one tube of gas ,,, and plenty of light ,, how deep is it
About 84 ft at the deepest point.
looks like a nice place for a splash
i live in santa rosa
No
Why is there koi in there?
I live in New Mexico I was just at the blue hole today
Who else came here from reading all the bright places
When being trained how to dive do they teach on different problems you may encounter and how to deal with them? Also how to not panic
Stephen Blair Yes. The whole point of training is to teach you what can go wrong, then how to either prevent the problem or fix it. It is natural to be nervous. We weren’t made to breathe underwater. But I have been diving so long that it feels weird NOT to breathe underwater.
Vance Esler yeah that’s where the panic came from because I couldn’t get air and the feeling made me spazz.
Vance Esler in your entire diving experience have you ever started to get pan-icy?
I used to build pools and went to the bottom of one to screw a cover on a drain . I put on a scuba tank with a lead belt to was me down. I’ve never had any training but thought there would be nothing to it. I started swimming around and couldn’t clear my mouth piece and started to panic. I started to move toward the shallow end but the lead belt was making me slow. All I could think of was how embarrassing it would be to be found dead in a pool with scuba gear on. Ha ha
Stephen Blair That would be embarrassing! Believe it or not, you can get serious damage to your lungs in only 10-12 feet of water! Glad you didn’t get hurt.
Vance Esler thanks , I felt like a wimp for panicking the way I did. That’s when I see people diving in really deep water I think “ man they’re no joke!”
That is not the real blue hole
Adam Martinez ...you are aware there's more than just one...right?
No
this is one very very clear video mate good job
do harmful animals stay over there..? how was your experience? weren't u all afraid
why is that man disturbing that shrimp
Dead bodies at the one in belize
This seems fake
Ah, just some parody....you guys put those statues there.
Actually, no. Someone else put them there. Things seem to come and go in this Blue Hole.
depth?
30-40 ft, as I recall.
In any country this video?
New Mexico, USA
That was pretty cool -- thanks for sharing!
you momas down there ready to force choke.
I wonder what's at the bottom of the one in Winslow Twp, NJ?
Someone should take a look!
do not touch wildlife?!! Thank you for sharing though
Actually, you are correct, and we usually leave them alone. But we wanted to show how they move, and how fast they are! There are hundreds of them in this hole. No one fishes or removes them the rest of the time.
Dude are the things down there like the stone tablet real ? The mans face and statue
The tablet is real. The face is a plaster mask made from a real person. And the little statue is real.
What the hell is that at 3:32?
Shadow Life 666 A person died became sand 😂
A plaster mask of someone's face. The woman who made it actually commented on it awhile back. It isn't there any more. Maybe she came and got it.
The Orange Gamin People become ahses when they die.
oh okay.
Its called a head ellen
I like sushi
3.31 what is that
It is a plaster cast of someone's face. The woman whose face it is once commented on this site.
The wife and I are diving this, then Lea Lake next month, any suggestion how many days it will take to really explore the hole? we were planning 1, but after seeing the photos of how large it is, we may stay 2.
1 day, 1 or 2 dives. It isn't really that large, although the video (unintentionally) makes it look that way. It is 80 ft across at the surface, 84 ft deep at the grate, and about 110 ft across at the bottom (a bell shape). If you can, dive it on a weekday when there are hardly any people around. On weekends, there are always a bunch of jumpers who stir up the silt and screw up the visibility. On a good day, you can see all the way to the bottom. On the jumper days, you are lucky to see 15 ft. The water is cold (61 degrees year round). I recommend a dry suit or 7 mm wetsuit.
+Vance Esler weekday is definitely the plan I have seen pics of the weekend crowd, no thanks. Any word on the bottomless lake state park? I think 1 day at each is looking good.
I don't know anything about the bottomless lake state park. There are some lakes on private property that are 300+ ft deep. Technical divers have been given permission to dive at times, but they are not generally open to the public, mainly due to liability concerns on the part of the property owners.
We discovered that as well, tried to get the permits needed to dive rock lake and ran into a road block.
Perch Lake is a small lake near the Blue Hole. It is spring water, too, also 61 degrees. It is only about 40 ft deep, but there were a few things to look at last time I dove it (which has been awhile). I recall there being a car and a small airplane fuselage. You don't need special permission to dive there. The same permit that lets you dive at the Blue Hole should let you dive at Perch Lake, too.
I'm no too familiar with shark behavior..so can someone tell me why the sharks arent attacking him?
People are not in this type of shark's food chain. They might bite if you wave your hand or make them think it is a fish. They are circling, waiting on the fish that will be presented to them.
this is not the blue hole
There are several "blue holes." This is the one in Santa Rosa, NM. It is less famous than the Belize Blue Hole that Jacques Cousteau explored.
